Rhythmic Opera

Bio: Thomas Schroyer

Born in a small town in the Allegany Mountains of Western Maryland. His father, Thomas Sr. owned the local grocery, gas station, and the eight lane bowling alley, where Thomas Jr. worked, bowled, drew cartoons, and played Christmas Carols on the piano. After receiving his BA at West Virginia University, Thomas took his first and last corporate job selling orange juice to the state of Florida.

In 1989, Thomas began his travels in the Far East with his textile business and began his passion for world music studying in India, Cuba, and Morocco. Since 1998, he has composed music for "Theater of the Invisible" company, the travel films: "Inside Iraq", "Cambodia", and "Amazing Thailand". Thomas has been involved with numerous recordings and performances for music and theater projects in NYC, SF, Holland, and the Northwest, from 1997-2005.

Storytelling and Rhymes have become a natural addition as Thomas formed the "Rhythmic Opera" and began performing and teaching in schools and libraries. Currently, Thomas is doing "Rhymes for the Times", an adult performance with an abundance of material using humor and irony. Thomas now resides in Portland, Oregon.

"Hail to the Gods of Humor!" "May they allow us to laugh at ourselves and the absurdities of the world to create positive change".
